Should Two be Too Many.
Wednesday, February 27th, 2008 by admiralStand up philosophy is not a difficult avocation at this part of an election cycle. I have been very careful not to get into anything heavy since these tirades are actually just filler for the comics. That is right–you should be looking at the top of this page instead of reading this. Unless I have lost you, I have a thought for you in the space that follows. Why is it better for candidates to drop ot of the race early?
Not every state has had its primary and how many candidates are there? Aside from Girdy who continues his campaign even when there are no elections, candidates are dropping like meteorites. What is the problem with allowing the people to decide who is in the general election? I honestly think that we should penalize any political party with less than two candidates in the last primary election in the country. If you drop out with more than 10 percent of the delegates required to gain the nomination for your party, you should be banned from campaigning for any elected office.
As I have heard, the Soviets had townhall meetings to neutralize dissent. The party had already made up its mind based upon the babbling of the experts behind the curtains so the public gatherings had no effect on real world policy. What the meetings did was give the government property that pulled the election day levers a chance to speak out. It is like the Matrix in that respect. Workers, units of labor, had the illusion of a choice in their servitude.
Also notice how distant the candidates are from the people that they are supposed to represent. There are rules keeping candidates from addressing the audience during a debate. Candidates who are candid in their dealings with the voters often do well; however, the elite seems upset if candidates fail to realize that they are better than the people that they are supposed to represent. Representatives are supposed to represent the minds, not the bodies, of the general public. A Martian who shared my beliefs is a better representative for me than a clone that was reared in Soviet sensitivity training centers.
So, we really should write in Girdy’s name on the ballots. Wouldn’t you like to see the high priests of the evening news trying to figure out who this Girdy chap is? What if they had an election and nobody showed up? Sign up for the Secrets of the Universe Forum and vote your heart out. Otherwise, Uncle Sam may write you out of his will…
