Girdy Cometh Back
Friday, February 22nd, 2008 by admiralIf you have wasted any time in the real world recently, then you know that Girdy has come back to the campaign trail. Actually, Joel has come back to the campaign trail while Girdy has gone back to the kitchen to make sure that Herman does not get the last slice of stale pizza. Although I am stepping out of character as the resident stand up philosopher in commenting on this, I am not involved with Girdy’s campaign this time around. IT has come to my attention that Girdy may or may not have had another character ‘dipped’ in an earlier strip on this site. Forget having him dipped – Girdy may have dipped him!
It has further come to my attention that, in taking no stance on any issue, Girdy is not unlike any other major candidate in the current race to the White House. The candidates who ran on some semblance of substance in their campaigns have either given up from lack of support or are doing very poorly from lack of support. That is kind of like the right side of my space key which is working very poorly. There I digress into the surreal word of reality. Nobody wants to go there and I have never even been invited to visit.
Notice the campaign climate. It is all about change. You could nuke an obscure part of Idaho or dispatch a legion of Boy Scouts to help every little old lady in the nation across the street and both would be change. So what? It is still a ‘your issue here’ campaign season.
Where Girdy differs from the other field of candidates is in his honesty about being clueless about the concerns of voters. I would fake a bet that we would all be better off with Girdy and Herman actually in change. You would know not to trust them to come to your aid when the school bully takes your lunch and or rent money on the street corner. Of course, Herman has been known to put bullies up on chairs when he visits the kitchen. Is that a good thing?
I wrote another editorial picking on all the identity politics clouding the current field. Where is your anger; your outrage? Are you going to start thinking with your head again? So, vote for Girdy and Herman in November. They have nothing in common with you so you’ll know not to rely on them in a pinch.
