Something Blue
Wednesday, November 7th, 2007 by Admiral_Coeyman I finally get up to the point of addressing the question in my first tirade and I really do not feel like writing. It has been months since I have been able to write. You see, we are close to selling the house and moving into a part of Maryland where we can still afford to live. That will mean giving up all of the associations that I have built up over the past 20 years. Anybody that you get close to you eventually have to say goodbye to.
Logic informs me that there is no alternative. I made mistakes that I aim not to repeat. While I am dropping dead weight, writing is one of the things that I will have a very hard time with. This is a shame because I just made my second submission to Associated Content and people there actually seem to have an interest in the things that I babble about.
In any case, I would not be able to write about the effect of magnetic fields on the time-space manifold. You see, yesterday was an election day. As far as I know, Girdy and Herman are still in the running for all the offices that they did not win in the last election. This aims to be an interesting election season, if you will permit me to wax serious, because of all the “don’t count the votes” legislation put into effect when Al Gore lost the last presidential election. It was his fault entirely since he did not have Joel running his campaign.
In my terms, these are “don’t count the votes” initiatives because they give away the electoral college votes of states to the winner of the popular vote even in the event that the people of those now unrepresented states did not cast a single ballot for that candidate. That was the whole reason for the electoral college in the first place. A population breakdown of the American population shows that it would be possible, in the absence of the electoral college, to elect a president who lost enough states to carry a constitutional amendment. Such an Amendment would require three fifths of the states, as I recall. As you can see, this will be an interesting election.
The most interesting point of the next election is that Girdy will honestly be the only candidate that is worth voting for. Any ‘electable’ candidate looks like a Soviet election in which you get to vote for the candidate who will deliver the party line to you. At least the Girdy/Herman ticket is honestly evil. Forget the lesser of two evils. You will find that the tyranny of good intentions never sleeps.
