How Lucky

Friday, July 13th, 2007 by Admiral_Coeyman

Let me welcome you, formally, to my lucky day. This tirade goes live on Friday the 13th of July. Friday the 13th is not an unlucky day for me. It has to be lucky for somebody, so why not me? Would it not be a shame to throw away all the wasted good luck that nobody gets to use on this day of the month?

There was a bad Friday the 13th for me. Playing hide and seek in the dark, I hit my head on a truck door. This bent the corner of the door and punched a hole almost an inch deep into my skull. If only it had knocked some sense into me, then I would be a much better stand up philosopher. God has been kind to me in that this is only filler material.

You may not have noticed that I have been writing tirades for about a year now. The metro Maryland festival that I wrote about in one of my earliest tirades took place on the 7th through 9th of July last year. I still have my security badge. It proves that I have been somewhere. Once, I was somebody and I actually did something.

Back to the luck of the day, it is bondage to signs when you abide by a sign without knowing its significance. As I recall the story, Friday the thirteenth is the day on which the Pope and the leader of the Masons conspired to have the leader of the Templar Knights murdered. After this assassination, on Friday the thirteenth, the Templar Knights never recovered their former glory. This is supposed to be the reason why Friday the 13th is unlucky and, when I get my time machine repaired, I do intend to go back and look it over. I do not like quoting unverified stories.

My ancestors represent both the Masons and the Templar Knights. Personally, I always liked the image of the Templar Knights. If you cannot tell, I have a soft spot for the image of the fighting, Christian, monk. It is the part that I would have played in history if the honor had been mine to select. Instead, I am quoting St. Augustine’s remark on bondage to signs in the filler editorials beneath one of the best comics on the Internet.
