I Can’t Think Of A Sufficient Pun

            This is the third concept sketch of these two I did, and the last one I can find.  I really am not obsessed with these characters, they were just the only concept sketches I could find lying around to post for you.  Really.

            One of the amusing aspects of their relationship, brought into stark relief by this particular sketch, is that Synthia is so protective of sweet, innocent Estella, when Estella is physically superior to Synthia.

            I made Estella to be kind of the female version of the Adolfian Superman.  She is tall, blonde haired, and presumably blue-eyed, although I have never bothered to do anything in color with these two.  Probably not the best analogy, but consider this, if you will: Estella was created by an alien super-power for a destructive purpose.  So it’s probably NOT that inappropriate.  The question is, what IS Estella?  Synthia believes that Estella is her opportunity to redeem her own lost innocence.  Estella’s “father” has some dark purpose in place for her.  Freshman believes Estella is a sweet girl with something deeper in her, and finds the mystery beneath her enticing.

            I, myself, struggle with the question of what Estella is.  I mean, I know WHAT she is, but which of the things she appears to be is her true nature, or are they all some part of her?

            Eesh… women.
