Everybody Else Wants to Rule the World
Wednesday, January 24th, 2007 by Admiral_CoeymanA long time ago, Millions of years on some time scales, I was sitting around talking with a friend of mine. The subject of the Illuminati came up. I asked a question that I thought everybody else would ask. What is the point in taking over the world?
I do not want to rule the world. Please hold your applause. I’ve been through my rough periods, but God knows what he’s doing and it is a lot less work to leave running the universe to him. How many of my own responsibilities have I failed to live up to? Why on all the Earths would I want the responsibility of running every life in all of creation? Jumping cockroaches I would never get any time for posting to the message board with that kind of work to do!
When you are the last player at Monopoly, what is your objective? I do not believe that the unfinished pyramid on the back of the dollar bill is unfinished. It could symbolize the belief that the watchers, symbolized by the all seeing eye of Horace, in the upper level of society are meant to be separate from the rest of us. This could mean that class warfare is a tool for, amongst other things, keeping the castes of society strictly divided. We are trained to hate the rich and they are trained to hate us. Yet it is the people who already own the financial markets of the world, the only player left in this game of global Monopoly, who are using us all.
Maybe my problem is not that I do not want to try to take over the whole world. What I do not want is to win the game. I’m all fine with playing the game. I miss sitting in front of a terminal spending 14 hours rebuilding a server with a crashed raid array. Solving problems exercises what intellect I have left.
I have not heard from that friend in years, yet I still think about this subject from time to time. There is always positivism which I lack the ego for. Some people are true believers in their ability to remake the world into a global utopia if only they could force the rest of us to stay out of the way. If they had any real faith in their systems, then they would not be so eager to eliminate their competition from the world. None of this makes sense to me.
This is the end of my stand up philosophy for the day. Why does anybody want to rule the world? Wealth has its limits. Power goes only to the limits of this world. The greater goal, I think, is happiness and you cannot get that by forcing people into a mold. World conquerors have never been known for having or giving much joy in life.
