SecretCon ‘06

Monday, October 9th, 2006 by Girdy

Hello again, friends. Hello, Joel. This article is meant to recap all the many and wondrous events of September 8th-10th, 2006: The first annual SecretCon (appropriately named, if you ask me), held in conjunction if not in concert with Baltimore’s ComicCon.
All in all, I would say that SecretCon ’06 was a rousing success. Every single attendee took part in every possible activity. A good time was had by all. In the end, Joel and I were able to provide free housing to everyone who needed it, and even a few who did not. *cough* darn roaches *ahem* Although we may have tried to pack too much in, no one who was there complained of the complete lack of scheduled events. I twiddled my thumbs once, but that is neither here nor there. I quote VH1 in saying that it was the Best. Week. Ever. Yeah, it was that good. In Raze’s words, “I wish I would have been there.
Now that we are done with that, I will start shedding blame and sharing excuses.
You see, earlier this year, when I moved out to Maryland and Joel and I became roommates, I kindamaybesorta said I would take on the responsibility of chairing/organizating SecretCon ‘06. This would be one of the main ways I could support the Secrets endeavor, using the skills in administration and event planning which I have developed over the last five years. Then, I did not do this. My bad.
This week, and this week only, several SecretCon ’06 shirts will be up at the Secrets store, which you can find through the “Store link found over the comic. They are self-flagellating, if that self is me, slightly ironic, and somewhat amusing. Not to mention, they’re limited edition!
Joel and/or I would love to get together with the site’s visitors and fans. We live north of Baltimore and, if you live around here or are passing through, we would be thrilled to hang out and, at the least, share a meal with you. You can contact us by e-mail at ffminds at hotmail dot com. We look forward to hearing from you. We will see you at SecretCon ’07! Until then, then.
Growing,
Girdy
