Temporals

Monday, July 31st, 2006 by admiral

I have little to no respect for ‘temporals.’ Yes, I can read a calendar and I know what year it is. The fact that the year is higher than it was when I was born does not impress me. So we got this far without vaporizing the Earth. What does that excuse?

Is it really supposed to impress us that “this is not the 50’s?” Soon, I hear that we’ll have the first generation to say “this is not the 60’s.” Aside from the fact that the human mind seems to have problems grasping the meaning of large numbers, do mere numbers mean anything that should shake the foundations of Heaven and Earth? Ideas still have to be defended on their own merits.

The farthest that you can go back into time would have you looking directly into a mirror. Time passes, however, it never makes bad ideas good or good ideas bad. Brilliance may seem stupid when out of its context, but what does not share that trait? It is not the printing on a calendar that changes the standards by which intellect is measured.

As you live long enough, you come to see the oldest ideas in the world come back as though they were brand new and improved. It sounds like a commercial. You know that there is really little chance that the same product will be much better just because we’re told that it is. Changing calendars surely doesn’t mean anything. If anything, products get worse when they are improved for the wrong reasons.

We have come from a ruling elite through representative states and seem to be moving slowly back into rule by a self-appointed elite. How many of our prayers are now sent off to “our government who art in D.C.?” Life is a process of conflict. You fight evil or you succumb to it. There is no winning of defensive wars.

Civilization degenerates as it gets too comfortable to take the risks required to maintain its own health. This is nothing new. It happened when we use different calendars and will come to pass again on these calendars. Changing names will not make a bad idea into a good one. I’ve read that demons change their names every 49 years.

In the past two days, I have heard mistakes from my grandparents’ generation called by new names. People really get into this calendar rationalization ideas. Maybe it is just that logical reasoning has been replaced with dogmatism in the modern system that pretends to educate. Are we relying on the decade and century that we’re in because we cannot defend our pet ideologies? Have we lost the skill or are we that afraid of conflict?

Never defend your reasoning based on what the calendar says. Is anybody really impressed with the bully tactics? Check yourself. Do you believe that you believe or are you a true believer?

I really do not want to go back to living in caves; either in body or in mind. Progress means to move forward, yet forward only implies the direction that you are facing. Which way are you facing? Does the calendar have anything to do with it?
