Fish

Friday, February 24th, 2006 by joel

If you have noticed by now that the aliens in this little saga have an unusual preoccupation with fish, good for you. You rate as a first class observer, and possibly even fan. But since I’m fairly certain none of you have, I will go ahead and call it to your attention. The aliens in this little saga have an unusual preoccupation with fish.
Here are the points at which this has been brought up:

1.) When the boys had been taken to the flight deck for the jump to hyperspace, the deck was entirely decorated with fish images.
2.) While taking his test, Girdy belted out ‘I like fish’ to the final answer. This was the correct answer, and would have rated as a correct answer to any of the questions. In Alien Logic, I like fish is the ultimate answer.
3.) The argument which Micah presented to The Matson in closing statements was the opening line to Dr. Seuss’ book One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

Why, you may ask, are the aliens so obsessed with fish? The answer is simply this: when the alien’s first surveyed earth, they saw that the majority of the planet’s surface was covered with water. Naturally they assumed that the dominate life-form of the planet was a water-dweller, and spent a ridiculous amount of time studying the aquatic life in search of the intelligent indigenous species. Naturally they did not find them there, however they assumed that a planet as waterlogged as that would develop a culture that centered itself around water-life. So they prepared for human culture to be fish-obsessed. All language filters and decorations centered around fish.
Silly aliens.
