Mystic Techno Cowboys: Revamped

Wednesday, July 27th, 2005 by joel

I like me some video games. That is to say, I am one of those people who, given the choice between a dip in the pool and a nice network gaming session with friends, would wonder what all this ‘pool’ stuff was and how anyone could even consider putting it in the same category as network gaming? I get wet in the shower each and every morning. That’s enough water thrills for me, thanks.
All that said, there are certain web-comic artists (whose name I will not mention, lest I incur their attention) who make it their job, nay their career to play video games. I see them on a fairly frequent basis griping that no good games are currently on the market. I could only dream of a lifestyle that afforded me that sort of video gaming gluttony. I purchase games and spend years getting around to playing them, until by the time I devote a reasonable amount of time to their play, they are already outdated and show it.
This is not always the case with video games I play. There have been a few gems that I have purchased, played through completely, and then proceeded to play through again several times.
Then there are those games that I purchase specifically for the multiplayer aspect. These games usually include some sort of single-player mode which I rarely if ever touch because the sole reason I own them is to play them multiplayer-style.
Overall, though, I find that the video game market, if anything is overloaded with games I many of which I am interested in but can afford neither the time nor the money to play them.
So quit complaining, guys. For average shmoes like the rest of us, the video game market is just about perfect, if not just a little TOO fast.
