So the question is; what is the point of making a bed if you’re just going to unmake it in a few hours time? I’ve never understood the concept of making a bed, unless one is expecting company and that is the main seating in the room. Or if a person just wants to have their room look like it’s from a Martha Stewart catalogue. The first reason is a good reason and I typically follow that rule, but what is the point of making the bed everyday if you never expect company? That’s what I have to decide. Should I ask people over more often, thus creating more work for myself, or just go along and if a person happens to show up keep them out of my room? I’m leaning more towards the second option.
The sad truth is, is that should I ever have children of my own I would want them to be in the habit of making their beds everyday, just for routine purposes. They too will one day come to the realization that making their bed is pointless and they will ask me why they still have to make them. I’m hoping by that point in time I’ll have an answer for them or that the habit will be so ingrained in them that they will not stop making their beds. Hopefully by that time also I will have developed the habit so that it won’t be a double standard. The “lazy is strong in me, but still able to be overcome
