Matrimony, both Holy and Unholy
Monday, July 5th, 2004 by joelDan just got married. Dan is the guy from the comic that doesn’t show up too often, but look in the bios, he is there. In fact, the fact that he DOESN’T show up too often is a source of endless conflict between him and I. The fact is that Dan is such a stable, decent kind of guy that there is very little about him that is overtly funny. And the things that are funny I am forbid to mention. So how is THAT for source material? At any rate, he is now happily wed to a beautiful woman and living in a beautiful two story 1930’s era house surrounded by rose gardens and fully stocked with 1980’s memorabilia, most notably a vast and impressive collection of transformers.
I was his Best Man. More accurately, I was his Better Man. In fact, his groomsmen formed an all-star lineup from Secrets. Freshman was there, but you guys haven’t met Freshman yet. He will arrive someday, I swear. So Freshman was ‘The Man’, then came Anthony who was ‘The Good Man’, then I was ‘The Better Man’, and the supreme Duke Darkside himself was the ‘Best Man.’ So now you know how we stand in order.
As great as this occasion was, and it was great indeed, I was thrilled to have my first opportunity to test-play the Secrets of the Universe card game with the people around whom it was designed. To see Girdy play Ti Quan Ouchie, while John was playing Darkside and I was playing Alien Logic… well… I could have died happy. Cool isn’t finished yet, so Anthony opted for a Ti Quan Ouchie/ Fredrickian Dynamics combo that was pretty devastating.
Should any of you wonder what I’m talking about, there is a link to the card game, such as it is, under ‘Neat Stuff’. The game is lots of fun, but if you need tips on playing, just write me. A lot of the cards reference the stories, only one of which is posted for your viewing pleasure, so, sorry about that. I will get to posting the other one eventually.
