I Need Help.
Wednesday, January 28th, 2004 by joelThe comics have been late. They have been late consistently. And for once this is ENTIRELY my fault. I have no one or nothing else to blame. Rather than make excuses, I beg your forgiveness and offer this little account over what has been occupying my attention over the last… week is it?
First of all, I’ve been working a lot, so I have that much to excuse my desire for Extreme entertainment. So, as if the shame of skimping on the comics isn’t enough, I began playing Star Wars Galaxies again.
Now there’s a lot of controversy out there over MMORPGs (more pigs). They are addictive, money eating, wastes of time. But MAN do they FEEL GOOD. More on that in a moment.
If there wasn’t controversy over MMORPGs, there WOULD be controversy over Galaxies. Much like Episode 1, Galaxies was long anticipated, long delayed, and bitterly disappointing to fans. Not having played MMORPGs before, I must have missed some of the disappointment of the game when I became lost in its infinite realms of freedom. I can go ANYWHERE and do ANYTHING… so long as I have the skillz. And that’s the addictive part. But as if that wasn’t addictive enough, I have now discovered how I can become a Jedi. Its like someone came along and handed me meaning to my life.
Here’s where the victory of knowledge of my life’s destiny is mixed with a little disappointment. Apparently in order to unlock my Jedi Character, I must become a master hairdresser. Fate is a harsh mistress. And so, incidentally, is addiction, which I seem to now have. In fact, I just got an E-mail from the Webgoddess whose laid back mannerisms prevent her from nagging or bugging me about things comic-related. She seemed concerned that she hadn’t heard from me in almost a week. As well she should be. I worked hard to build this webpage, and now I am letting my addiction get in the way of that. It’s not as if I did not have enough time to do the comics. I had plenty. I just spent it all playing Galaxies. It’s not like I need more time. Give me more time, I’d just spend it all playing Galaxies. I dreamed about Galaxies last night. I need help. Seriously.
