My Birthday
Monday, October 13th, 2003 by joelToday is my birthday.? Now I wasn’t going to make a
big deal of it, but then I decided that birthdays ARE sort of a big
deal.? Because, if you think about what a birthday is, its basically a
celebration of your existence.? For me to celebrate my birthday is not
so much a self-indulgent act as it is a cry of thanks to my creator for
allowing me the privilege of being created.? For someone to celebrate my
birthday is for them to say that they’re glad I’m around and that their
life wouldn’t be quite as nice without me.
Conversely, if people around me don’t acknowledge
my birthday, its pretty clear that they’re indifferent to my existence
or, heaven forbid, not too thrilled to have me around.
I have to thank the Duke of Darkside for always
doing his best to make my birthday special.? I know its not exactly
implied in his name, but he’s always gone out of his way to show his
appreciation of me on my birthday, which is sadly more than I’ve always
done for him.
So thanks to all those who give a care and show me
I’m appreciated, and for the rest of you guys, have a happy
just-another-Monday.
