Artists and Entertainers
Monday, September 1st, 2003 by joelI have striven throughout my life to keep from
forming strong opinions on things.?
Forming strong opinions has the effect of getting you into fights
constantly.? I know, because
I used to have a lot of strong opinions on stuff.?
I’m very passive-aggressive in my philosophies nowadays as I
assume most artists must be.?
I see artists as a bunch of wimps who got tired of
being obvious about the things they believed so they resorted to trying
to sway people by sending subtle messages through their works.
I have revised my opinion since I wrote that last
paragraphs.? Most artists
have very strong opinions and force them upon the public in a brazen act
of first amendment rights.? I
think its more true of entertainers that they are passive-aggressive
wimps who send subtle messages through their work rather than say it
outright.? And I will tell you why I believe this.
Most people aren’t interested in art.?
The general public doesn’t understand art and finds it both
boring and somewhat offensive.? Artists tend to drive people away and alienate them.?
Entertainers, on the other hand, must draw people in.?
Sometimes this involves offending them, but it must be done with
humor or else they will be legitimately offended and go away.
So entertainers are a bunch of hypocritical,
manipulative jerks and the lot of them should be driven out to the wild
dogs.? That said, I must
secure the lock on my bunker.
