The Post Man Cometh

Wednesday, August 6th, 2003 by joel

?Okay,
I think I am getting the hang of this posting thing.? I knew this
was one aspect of this humble web page that I would have to ease into,
adjust to, and eventually define apart from other such regular posts on
other such humble WebPages.?

It’s true that these posts are a grammar
instructor’s nightmare.? They have no definite point, no
introductory or conclusive sentences, and a rambling body.? Time
will only tell if the grammar teacher was right, or whether my style of
prose is more attractive.

An associate and friend of mine, whom you may hear
more of in the future has re-built a fan page devoted to my works which
predates this page in both name and material.? Still he has some
stuff on there that I eventually wanted to put on this page, and it will
be worth a look.? It also has some comics that are not contained on
this page.? You know? if you like comics.? That link, which
will eventually be under the ?links’ section, is as follows: http://bbbco.port5.com/joelfansite/

Oh, yeah, and if by bizarre chance you happen to be
a person who doesn’t actually know me personally, its got a purty lil
picture of yours truly.

Which leads me to my next non-point, that is,
drawing myself in the comic.? When I originally designed the style
of art for the comic I had trouble figuring out a way of drawing myself
as a distinct character.? Part of the problem is I have this
universal face that vaguely resembles someone you once knew or that guy
on TV.? There’s nothing too definitive about me, so it was hard
to translate me into a comic character.? The up side of that is
that I make a great everyman for the comic.? With no distinctive
qualities (save my cowlick and slightly crooked eyes) my character is
the perfect blank palate onto which any number of
characters/ideas/emotions can be painted.
